+LOCAL MISSION OPPORTUNITIES
Kids Explosion 2009: City-wide Vacation Bible School, July 6-10, 2009
This is a city-wide VBS that is targeted for inner-city children. They are presented with non-denominational material that focuses on Jesus and teaches HE is the only way to Heaven. The group putting together this outreach is need of volunteers to help throughout the week. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the volunteer form. You may contact Kelly Wilson if you have questions or would like further information.
Salvation Army: House of Hope shelter
The Salvation Army ministry needs donations for the House of Hope homeless shelter. For the next several weeks, we will have a tub marked for the House of Hope shelter at the Information Desk. We are asking for donations of personal hygiene items (shampoo, hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, hand sanitizer, deodorant, etc…) AND bibles or devotional books. These items will be packaged and delivered to the Salvation Army so that each individual that stays at the shelter will receive a ‘care bag’ from Oak Hill. Please see Tracy Gray if any questions or suggestions.
Christian Ministries Hospice
Christian Ministries Hospice is seeking recipes to be included in a memorial cookbook. The cookbook will include a photo and brief memorial to the individual. The cookbook is one of the ways the CMH Volunteer Organization raises funds to help patients who can not afford hospice care and/or medications. Contact Carol Harris (770.412.1040) for more information.
Five Loaves & Two Fish Food Pantry
Oak Hill serves at the food pantry on the 2nd Saturday of each month. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact Connie Hyder.
